Eligibility and visa

Eligibility
USMLE required (US and foreign graduates); ABR-eligible; must qualify for a DEA number and North Carolina medical license.
International applicants
Graduates of non-US/non-Canadian medical schools must have completed 3 consecutive years of training at a US or Canadian accredited medical center to obtain a North Carolina licence; faculty-limited licensure is not available for fellowship positions.
Visa support
Institution policyJ-1 alien physician status sponsored by ECFMG with Duke's assistance; Duke is H-1B cap-exempt and H-1B is possible for clinical trainees who have passed USMLE Steps 1-3 and hold an ECFMG certificate (individual programmes decide which visas they accept)
Licence requirement
North Carolina medical license.
